Stress is part of everyone’s life, it is how we deal with stress that is important.

Stress is a good thing in small doses, but when your body is continually bombarded by stress and it starts to affect your mood, health and general demeanor, then it is time to do something about it. As a professional counsellor I can help you.

Tips For Coping With Stress and Anxiety Symptoms

  • Take time out, by listening to your favourite music, get a massage, learn relaxation techniques, practice yoga.  By stepping back from the causes of your stress and anxiety will help to clear your head.
  • Eat well-balanced meals.  Skipping meals is not a good idea, as this will affect your mood and overall well being.
  • Limit your caffeine and alcohol intake as this will only aggravate your anxiety and can trigger panic attacks.
  • Get plenty of sleep.  When your body is stressed it requires additional sleep and rest in order to recharge.
  • Try and exercise daily, as this will help your mood and overall well being.
  • Take deep breaths, by inhaling and exhaling slowly.  This is a great way to help the body to recuperate and it can also help if you are having a panic attack.
  • Try and watch a funny film or your favourite comedian, as laughing releases endorphins, which are happy chemicals and we experience a strong feeling of pleasure as a result.
